Christmas Break - December 23 through January 3

Bragging Rights

This week I am at the annual Presbyteral Assembly at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, VT.  Every year the priests and bishop of the Diocese gather for their annual meeting in September.  It is a very popular location for meetings hosting a variety of professional groups. It is also fairly central for priests traveling from all corners of the Diocese.  It is one of the few times we are all together and, in such a  rural state like Vermont, we don't often see each other. Among our ranks, there is a small group of priests who have a Catholic schools and an even smaller group that teaches in those schools. I am one of the lucky few who teaches. We tend to compare notes with each other: "How is your school doing?" is the opening line. I was happy to brag about Good Shepherd to the other priests about how well the year is going and about the joys and challenges of teaching. Having been associated with other schools over the years, I would say this one has been the best. But don't tell the other priests I said that.
