I took my Religion class to the Canterbury Inn again this month to play Bingo with the residents. We had to stop for a photo op at the entrance to the facility to have a group picture taken with the blow-up pumpkins and other decorations. The kids are not photo shy at all! Now that cell phones have cameras, they are accustomed to documenting their whole life--and publishing it.
What’s remarkable about this photo, however, is all the smiles. Although the pumpkin balloon smiles may be larger, they are nevertheless artificial. For the students, a day out of the classroom doing something meaningful and fun, it not at all artificial. It is very much alive and thriving. Their joy makes me smile :)
