Mesmerized

These girls are mesmerized by the Advent candlelight.  Mrs. Thomas's religion class was learning about Advent and the Advent wreath.  Their concentration is a captivating as was the classroom discussion. The liturgical season punctuates reality with a certain rhythm and beauty throughout our lives: whether it is Advent and Christmas or Lent and Easter.  One of the beauties of a Catholic school education is witnessing the unveiling of that rhythm and beauty--even in the life of 1st Graders.

For those of us who are beyond 1st Grade, I pray that we may also be mesmerized by the sacred punctuating the secular with its own luster of beauty, meaning and purpose.
