I had an occasion this week to host a brunch for Mrs. Caron's Kindergarten class at the Rectory. We had a delectable menu consisting of brunch finger food: grapes, bacon, and coffee cake served on old fashioned China plates. Chocolate milk was served in antique sherry glasses. It was a feast. We had stimulating conversation, which varied every thirty seconds so that the topics did not get too dull. A tour of the Rectory offices and a tour of the Church allowed for some stretching of legs. The students were able to see where baptisms occur, the sanctuary space, the parish hall, and the sacristy. The highlight was for each child to have his or her own votive candle in front of the Sacred Heart of Jesus statue where a prayer was offered up for a specific intention. Father lit the candles. Mrs. Caron does an amazing job with her students and I have learned a lot just watching her in action!
