She had just dunked two baskets when I took this photo. The entire lunchroom clapped and cheered for her. In her day, she played college sports and wrote for her college newspaper as a journalist major. Today she is the Development Director for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington and editor of our multi-award winning Catholic magazine, the Vermont Catholic Magazine.
Ellen Kane spent an afternoon at Good Shepherd just before vacation. She helped serve hot lunch, did recess duty and spoke to the 5th/6th Grade Religion class about careers in journalism. She made important points about the duty of journalists to write about the good things that are taking place in the world as well as the dangers of believing everything that takes place on social media platforms.
I am interested in having more professionals visit my class and inspire the students. If you know of anybody who has an interesting career, let me know!
