Toddlers love building blocks for both construction and demolition. As kids get older those building blocks become more about relationships than architecture. For building blocks to be able to build an edifice it takes skill, judgment and the right placement in order for the building not to fall over. The same can be said about building the blocks of relationships at school and in society. Relationships are stable when there is tact, good judgment and the right placement of virtue, dependability and reliability. Andre, Grayson and Richard are trying to build a pyramid in this photo, but I think that they are building something more than that as I see them interact with each other in the classroom, the band room, phys ed and on the basketball court. They are building the blocks of relationships which are anchored in trust. While this pyramid lasted only as long as a photo, I hope that the building blocks of their friendship may last a lifetime and that there will be no falling down.
