Penmanship

When I was in public grade school at Windsor Elementary in Windsor, VT, not only did we receive grades for the major subjects (math, science, reading, etc), but we also got grades in penmanship; or more specifically, cursive. These days I love receiving letters from some of the older generation of Catholic school alumni who have beautiful Palmer Method cursive.  Prior to the Palmer Method was the Spencerian script which was popular between 1850-1925 (before my time). That script was truly an art form and beautiful to look at. And so is the Palmer script.

I love this photo of Chloe's cursive textbook for handwriting--and her happy smile. Not all art is sculpture or painting. Some of it is simply in handwriting.
