National Police Week

Every May National Police Week occurs. This year it was May 11-17.  I didn't realize it until it had passed by. My 5th and 6th Grade Religion class made cards for the St. Johnsbury Police Department nevertheless, albeit a bit late.  Each student drew the St. Johnsbury Police Department's coat of arms on the front of the card and wrote a prayer inside. The prayer, addressed to God, came from the heart of each boy or girl and expressed what he or she wanted for a blessing for the police officers.  Ashley wrote the following prayer inside her card:

Dear God,

I ask you to take care of all our officers. They do sooooo much for us. They will never give up so we can be safe.

Hi, my name is Ashley.  I'm in 5th Grade and I love that you keep us safe.  I hope you have a blessed day, night or morning,

Love, Ashley

Thank you

We delivered the cards to Chief Pierce and Officer Cleary who were kind enough to pose for a photo with us and were very grateful that we had taken the time to make cards for them.  That's the Good Shepherd Catholic School way of showing respect for civil servants.
