Last School Mass

In this photo, the 8th Grade class is processing into the St. John's Church for their last Tuesday morning school Mass. They look very serious and reflective. In the homily, I preached about how they will never have this opportunity again where they will attend Mass once a week at a school and have the priest bless them. I told them how much I looked forward to blessing them each week at Mass, even if for them it was just part of their weekly routine.  The Catholic students, who received their sacraments, also received Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist at Mass. The non-Catholic students come down the Communion line to receive the priest's blessing.

This time of year is a time of endings and beginnings. Goodbyes can be sad because they are a separation. Separations hurt.  But tears and sniffles are wiped away as 8th graders "rise again" to become 9th graders.  I will miss seeing these kids at the Tuesday morning Masses, though.  But, September will be here soon and life at Good Shepherd Catholic School, with all its blessings, will resume
