A Teacher of Teachers

Today I celebrated a funeral for Dr. Normand Madore. Dr. Madore spent his formative years in St. Johnsbury. He was a graduate of St. Gabriel Boys' School in the 1930s. After attending high school at the Academy, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces and served in WWII. Then, he went to college, eventually earning a doctorate in education, and taught from the elementary level to the graduate school level as a university professor in both the U.S. and in Thailand and China. He was a "teacher of teachers." I would like to think that his love for education started at our Catholic school with the Sisters, Brothers and Priests who served here in the old days. Since 1879, with the beginning of Catholic education in St. Johnsbury, we have produced some amazing alumni.  I'm going to add Dr. Madore to the list of souls in heaven to whom I pray. May this alumnus, a "teacher of teachers", obtain for our faculty and students a great love for education, new families and new students!
